Located in the desert landscape of Palm Springs, this residence is conceived as a serene retreat, in direct dialogue with the surrounding terrain. Built in exposed concrete, the architecture establishes a solid and contained presence, blending seamlessly with the rocky formations of the site. Its mineral surfaces reflect the texture, color, and density of the land, lending the house a timeless and deeply rooted character.
From within, the design extends this connection to the environment through a palette of sober, tactile materials: limestone, textured natural-finish woods, patinated metal, and smooth walls with mineral-based finishes in earthy tones. The chromatic range —ochres, soft greys, coppery accents— responds to the desert light, shifting the perception of the space throughout the day.
Furnishings are integrated with natural ease, bringing warmth and material depth without disrupting the calmness of the interior. The selection combines contemporary pieces, utilitarian objects, and sculptural accents in a quiet, balanced language. Many of the pieces were developed in collaboration with artists and craftspeople in Mexico, incorporating hand-worked woods, forged metals, traditional ceramics and clays, and textiles woven on pedal looms. Each object introduces a cultural layer that connects the space with craftsmanship, time, and material essence.
Lighting —both natural and artificial— follows the rhythm of the day. Light filters through the space, revealing textures, softening volumes, and transforming the atmosphere. By evening, an intimate and subdued mood envelops the interiors. Palm Springs House proposes a conscious way of living, where architecture, interior design, and landscape converge in a sensory and essential experience.
